About Barzaq (البرزخ)

In Islamic belief, Barzakh is the intermediate state between death and the Day of Resurrection (Yawm al-Qiyamah). During this time, the soul experiences a taste of either reward or punishment based on one's deeds in life.

"And behind them is a barrier (barzakh) until the Day they are resurrected." — Quran 23:100
